The government and health services are urging everyone over 18 to get a Covid booster jab to combat the new Omicron variant of the virus. We are all being asked to get this booster if it is three months or more since our second jab.
We’re asking all our SVI members if you need some extra support so that you can get the jab. We may be able to help. For example, with taxis to a vaccine centre, sighted guide support at some venues or making an appointment if you are struggling to do so online. We have a grant from the Sandwell Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) Vaccine Support fund to help you.
We are working with Sandwell Council’s Public Health Team to ensure that as many of our members as possible can access vaccinations. And that you are not disadvantaged because of your sight loss. We can raise any issues that you encounter in accessing vaccination because of your sight loss or any other disability.

Contact us if you are an SVI member, or visually impaired and live in Sandwell, and need:
- help to set up your appointment
- a vaccine at home because you don’t get out
- assistance to get to and around the vaccine centre safely
Call 0121 525 4810 or email info@sandwellvisuallyimpaired.org.uk. We are working part of the time from home, so if no one answers your call, leave a message with your name and phone number and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We are able to access phone messages regularly.
