Don’t let sight loss be a barrier to trying new things, going to new places and making new friends.

Visually impaired, a family member, friend or helper of a person living with sight loss and want to do more adventurous or social activities? Our SocialEyes Group is for adults of any age.

Members have previously enjoyed beer and skittles and curryoke nights, days out in Weston Super-Mare and Stourport,  axe throwing  and lots of afternoon teas and meals out. SocialEyes wants to try new things, so all ideas are  welcome.

Contact the SVI office to find out more about the SocialEyes group. Or have a look at our events calendar and/or check out SVI’s Facebook page and Group to find out what we have planned.

Active 60

Over 50 and want to do more activities to keep you active for longer? Statistics show that people who are active in body and mind as they approach their 60s stay healthier and happier for longer. SVI’s Active 60 group usually meet every month to go on a trip or a meal out . Recent activities include an afternoon tea at Halesowen Golf Club, a trip to Evesham Country Park and brunch at The Interceptor, West Bromwich. In the past they have visited a petting zoo, on canal boat trips, visited Winterbourne House and Gardens and been to Bourton-on-the Water. They also host the annual Santa turkey sandwich party and a get together at Easter.

Lots of happy faces at a table with an umbrella on the veranda. There's ivy on the wall in the background. The four ladies have drinks and a takeaway cake box.

Active 60 members pay for their trips and events which are subsidised from SVI A60 funds.

Women’s Group

A monthly meet up for SVI’s women members to chat, learn from each other and listen to guest speakers who will give them information and support on women’s health and wellbeing.

The Women’s Group usually meets the first Monday evening of each month from 5pm to 7.30pm. Some of our meetings are virtual and some are in person. In-person meetings are usually at our base at West Bromwich Town Hall.

Note: for special trips and events dates and times are likely to change and fees are made for some activities and pamper treatments.

Contact the SVI office to find out more about the Women’s Group.

Men’s Group

Our Men’s Group meets monthly in the SVI Common room, for a chat and to play games. We sometimes have guest speakers with a focus on things like men’s health issues.  We’ve also been on some trips out, including a visit to the Ozzy Osbourne exhibition at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.

We welcome new ideas for future activities.
