Coronavirus – a message from SVI

Coronavirus illustration

We hope that you are all safe and well. We are sorry to be bringing more bad news in these bleak times.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic we are unfortunately having to stop some of our services for now.

There will be no Active 60 until further notice.

SocialEyes activities will stop too. If you have booked onto the Beer and Skittles event, you can ask for a refund or hold on until we reschedule later in the year.

We have had to call a halt to all our activities in the Town Hall – Tea and Toast, Women’s Groups, Music of our Lives, Touchy Feely arts project (the easter crafts workshop) and the Appy Hour.

Unfortunately Portway Leisure Centre has now also closed. (updated 21 March 2020)

Ray and the Sandwell Talking News team are doing their best to keep the TN going for as long as possible. We will let you know if there are any changes to this service. We welcome volunteer readers who can work remotely using their own mobile devices – no special tech required.

We want to help and support our members as much as we can.  We will be looking at how we can support people on an individual basis, for example how we can link in with other groups to give support with shopping, getting medication, possibly setting up some sort of friendly telephone support service.

Remember that we are all here to support each other. You can still contact the office and listen out for a call or email from us. You are not alone.

Stay safe and please listen to the advice that you are given from Public Health England and the Government.
