Our activities

Along with the activities arranged by our groups, we have other drop-in sessions, events and meetings.

Due to demand, booking for all events is essential, so please call the office on 0121 525 4810 or email info@sandwellvisuallyimpaired.org.uk.

Tea and Toast

With guest speakers on the first Wednesday of every month at our base at West Bromwich Town Hall from 10.30am to 12noon. Enjoy a slice of toast, other tasties and a cuppa over a chat with your SVI friends. Help is on hand from our staff who can offer support with anything you need to get sorted.  Check the calendar for details of each session.

Digital Empowerment Programme

Our Digital Empowerment Programme is funded by The Pocklington Trust.  Come and tell Steve Nutt our digital consultant what you would like him to help with. And find out how you can get support to get better use of your computers, digital devices and Smart phones.

There are only a few weeks left for you to make an appointment to see Steve, so don’t delay. He can give one-to-one support at SVI, at your home or over the phone. Booking is essential.

Sessions are running every Thursday.  Make an appointment to come and see Steve at the SVI office between 11.30am to 2pm.

Healthy lifestyle activities

Look after your physical and mental health with gym, swimming, dancing and more. Find out about these sessions by following the link to our healthy lifestyles activities page.

Appy Hour

Focusing on the technology, apps and skills we use on our mobiles, tablets and smart speakers. This peer support group will meet following tea and toast on the first Wednesday of the month from 1pm to 2.30pm in the SVI common room at the Town Hall.  Join us to tell us what technical support you need and learn about the latest digital developments. The Appy Hour groups are designed for people of all levels. If you are an expert at using your mobile device, please join us and share your knowledge.

Coffee and Conversation (online session via Zoom)

Every Wednesday lunchtime drop in on the Zoom platform between midday and 1.30 pm for Coffee & Conversation with SVI members and friends.

Gogglevox – online session via Zoom

We meet online once a quarter to chat about audio described TV programmes. Contact the office if you wish to be added to our mailing list.
