Whether you’re hoping to try something different, get active, learn new skills, or simply enjoy good company and make new friends, there’s plenty to look forward to in the months ahead. We can’t wait to welcome you to our upcoming events and make this new year a positive and enjoyable one for everyone.
Tea and Toast, the first Wednesday of the month from 10.30am – 12noon
Come along for tea, toast, and a catch-up with friends. Our 7 January session will be a relaxed drop in for informal chat. The next tea and toast will be on 4 February – speaker to be arranged.
Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Awareness Session at the SVI office on Monday 12 January from 10am – 12.30pm
Curious about the latest wearable technology? Come along and try out the amazing Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses for yourself. Our good friend Sunny Bains will guide us through how they work and explain the benefits they can bring to everyday life. A great chance to get hands-on!
Let’s Talk About IT Monday 12 January from 12.30pm – 2.30pm at SVI Office
Following on from the Ray-Ban demonstration session, please do stay and join us for an informal session where we’ll chat about all things IT. Whether you’re a tech whizz or just getting started, everyone’s welcome. This month we will have Kevin Priest from Black Country Housing and our special IT guest, Andrew Billingham from Beacon Vision. We hope that together we can resolve some of your digital dilemmas.
SVI Women’s Group – Pamper and Meal Afternoon, Monday 19 January 2026 from 1.30pm
Join the SVI women’s group for one of our popular pamper sessions at the Oasis salon, Halesowen College.
- Enjoy a post-Christmas pamper with either a manicure or pedicure, cost £14.
- Or a hair wash and blow-dry at £7.
Following our treatments, we will take a short walk to the Loyal Lodge for a relaxed meal and chat.
Men’s group – Wednesday 21 January from 10.30am – 12.00noon
Shopalonga Tesco! For this session the men will be meeting colleagues from Tesco who will guide us around the supermarket and tell us about the support they offer.
SVI Matinee Theatre Trip – Six the Musical,
Saturday 24 January 2026 with Touch Tour 3pm, Performance 4pm
Come join us for a matinee performance of Six the musical at the Grand Theatre. This international smash hit returns to Wolverhampton, following its previous sell-out success! From Tudor Queens to Pop Princesses, the six wives of Henry VIII take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an 80-minute celebration of 21st century girl power.
Tickets cost £75. If you are visually impaired or disabled, this price includes a ticket for a companion. Payment for this performance is required in advance. Touch tour at 3pm and audio described performance starts 4pm. If you would like to meet for a drink beforehand, you can join us at the Moon Under Water (Wetherspoons) pub, opposite the theatre, at 2pm.
No SVI staff support will be available for this show however staff can help you register in advance for an access card. Call the SVI Office for more information.
Active 60 Lunch at the Court of Requests, Thursday 29 January, from 12.30pm
Christmas and the New Year are becoming a distant memory by the end of January, so why not beat the winter blues by joining your Active 60 friends for a winter warmer pub lunch. Please contact the office to let us know you will be coming, so we can book the table/s. You can order and pay on the day.
Monthly Cinema Trip, Wednesday 11 February, time TBC
We are trying out a monthly cinema trip on the second Wednesday of each month. Our first one will be on Wednesday 11 February at the Odeon Cinema West Bromwich. Please contact the office for more details and meeting times.
Health & Fitness Activities will re-start w/c 12 January 2026
Supported Gym Sessions, Every Tuesday from 10am – 12pm at Portway Lifestyle Centre
Get active with fellow SVI members! Whether you prefer the treadmill, exercise bikes, or weights, support is always on hand to help you get the most from your workout. It’s a great way to stay fit whatever the weather.
Line Dancing, Every Tuesday from 1pm – 2.30pm at Dartmouth Central Club
Join Ray and Jean, our volunteer instructors, for fun-filled line dancing sessions. It’s a fantastic way to stay active, improve your balance, and meet new people.
Showdown every Wednesday afternoon from 1pm to 3pm at Portway Lifestyle Centre
Showdown is changing its day and time, we will be restarting on Wednesday 14 January from 1pm. Come and join us for this fast-moving, interactive sport similar to table tennis and air hockey. Designed for blind and visually impaired people but anyone can play. Contact the SVI office for more information.
