About fifty SVI members and friends attended the annual Active at 60, Santa’s Turkey Sandwiches party at Dartmouth Central Club on Wednesday, 13 December.
As members and friends tucked into their sandwiches and nibbles, Christmas music was playing in the background.
In between the chatter and the delicious mouthfuls of food, members and friends pulled crackers, which did not contain toys but thought-provoking riddles, along with the traditional hats and jokes.
There was even time to pass a parcel around, which Sandra won.
But the party stopped with the much-anticipated arrival of Santa Claus. He cheerfully handed out Christmas gifts and good wishes to the SVI members.
A raffle was held and we raised a fantastic £102. Thanks to Gina and Helen for running the raffle and to all who bought a ticket (even those who tried to pay with Euros – a fully sighted person by the way – until caught in the act!)
Everyone enjoyed the event, and very much look forward to meeting up again in 2024.
Thank you to everyone who took part and helped to make this event so much fun – volunteers, members, SVI staff, and of course Santa.
You can listen to an interview with Santa and relive some of the festive atmosphere from the party in the audio recording below, thanks to Sandwell Talking News.
