SVI members and friends took the message of ‘Vision First’ out to the people of West Bromwich on World Sight Day, Thursday 10 October. We hosted an information stand in Tesco West Bromwich where we talked to people about eye health. We combined this with a fund raising event that raised £131.83 for SVI to run local services for people living with sight loss.
To spread the message further, we had been working with Sandwell Council and bin service providers Serco on an awareness video. This looked at the impact of obstacles in the street on the everyday lives of people with visual impairments. Some of our members took part and shared their experiences.
Please view the link to the video created by Serco in partnership with SVI or view it below. This short video clip was hosted by SMBC, Serco and SVI to promote World Sight Day and was on Facebook. It’s now on YouTube.
A big thank you to everyone involved in making the video and supporting us on World Sight Day.
