Rock out with SVI

Rock out with SVI

Let’s get together and make some music to help keep those autumn blues at bay. Feel the noise with us as SVI’s new rock project kicks off on Wednesdays from 16 October.

Grab your instruments, warm up your vocal chords in the shower and rock up to the SVI offices on Wednesday lunchtimes.  Join in with SVI to make your own music as SVI members get in touch with their musical sides. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own instruments. You can borrow something for the session.

This project follows on from the great success of our Brum Rocks sessions. Rodrigo and Sarah-Ann will run five SVI Rocks workshops, followed by a gig at the SVI annual forum on Monday 18 November.

So come along to the SVI office every Wednesday from 16 October to 13 November 12.30pm – 2.30pm with your instruments and voices and rock out with friends.

Please contact the SVI office in advance to to let us know that you are coming.

Sandwell Visually Impaired community members and dog Amber cluster together in the SVI room, smiling and holding their guitars, a ukulele, a keyboard, shakers, and drums, while singing the Beatles. In the middle of them, music director Rod and musical assistant Jim from Brum Rocks triumphantly wave a microphone and an egg shaker.
Rod, Jim and participants unleash their inner rock stars to the sound of the Beatles at our previous Brum Rocks sessions

Guidance for creatives

As part of this project we are working with Sarah-Ann to  produce guidance for arts professionals around visual impairment and inclusivity. This aims to assist them in making their work accessible for blind and visually impaired people. This will be available to download from  our website once it is completed.

Thanks to our funders

Thanks to Music For All for providing funding for this project.
