Social activities over the festive season

We’ve lots coming up so you can meet and mingle in the lead up to Christmas. The dark nights and cold days are really with us now, so why not cheer yourselves up with some pre-festive treats and winter warmers as you join your SVI friends for some of the below activities.

Tea and Toast Plus at SVI, West Bromwich Town Hall

Join us on Wednesday 6 December between 10.30 am and 12 noon. Because this is the pre-Christmas session, we will have a little bit more than toast to offer.  How about a sausage sandwich or bacon bap? This will be an informal session, with festive tunes and time to chat with friends.

Women’s group festive evening at Pigeon’s parlour – Thursday 7 December from 6.30 pm

Ladies come join us, dress up in your spangly glam for a 1940s night at this popular café bar.  Male chaperones are optional.  We will take a late tea from 6.30 pm onwards.  Tea options are: mini afternoon tea, large afternoon tea and a gentleman’s tea. The cost for this will be between £15 – £20 depending on your food choice. Alcoholic drinks are extra, and you will pay for them yourself on the day. There will be a £5 charge for transport if you want to travel with us. We will need payment in advance for this event.

Women’s group Festive Zoom party Monday 18 December from 5 pm to 6.30 pm

The women’s group ‘It’s getting to look a lot like Christmas’ annual Christmas singalong and quiz is getting to be a tradition.  Join us this year and be part of the fun. Don’t forget to don your Christmas jumpers and have a mince pie ready.

Creative Change drumming workshops second session Monday 11 December from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm

Maybe not specifically festive – but we are sure you will have some fun with your drum.

There is still time to join us to fine tune your rhythm and drumming techniques.  As broadcast on BBC Radio 4 InTouch, from an absolute beginner to a skilled percussionist, all are welcome for this ten session drumming workshop.  Bring a drum, or a saucepan, all are welcomed.  Tabla drummer, Mendi Singh will instruct us through the stages of drumming so that at the end of the workshops we will do a drumming presentation at our March 2024 open meeting.  The feedback from our first session in November has been excellent, so if you think drumming might be your thing, register now before it’s too late.

Active 60 Santa’s Turkey Sandwich Party – Wednesday 13 December from midday to 3pm at the Dartmouth Central Club.

A date not to be missed if you are over 50 yet still a child at heart! Celebrate the joy that Santa brings at Christmas.  Join us for a turkey sandwich and nibbles, festive fun and a visit from a special guest who has promised to visit us if we are good girls and boys.  There is an £8 fee to attend this event, which can be paid on the day of the party, but booking is essential. So, call the office or email us to reserve your place.

Book your places!

Please book in advance to make sure that we know you are coming and can cater for you.
