The staff, volunteers and trustees of SVI, wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
The SVI offices will be closed from Friday 20 December and will reopen on Thursday 2 January.
We hope you have been enjoying our Christmas activities over the last couple of weeks. We’ve got a few more more to come:
- festive nibbles at our Talk and Support Group and
- a celebration of Christmas 1940s style with SVI Women’s Group at Pigeon’s Parlour.
Visit our calendar of events for details of these activities and check regularly to see what’s coming up.
Don’t miss the Sandwell Talking News Christmas Special! It will be available online on this website, on Alexa and by phone on Friday 20 December. Postal listeners will receive it shortly afterwards.
And finally, to wish you all a merry Christmas, our former chair, Graham Price, has written a special poem which you can listen to below. Enjoy!
And here is the poem if you prefer to read the text as well as, or instead of, listening.
Festive Cheer
Festive cheer is playing loud around us,
Raising dreams we need to share,
Telling us to be happy and generous,
With care towards all to be fair.
The past the cause of our celebration,
All creeds saying ‘me to’ in deed and thought,
Goodwill to all the aspiration,
Common good cheer being sought.
Silos abandoned, happy tidings floating far and wide,
Jolly season’s greetings landing everywhere, ,
Where sadness prevails, tears to hide,
Leaving us to strive for all to have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Graham
December 2024.
Merry Christmas everyone!
