Exciting news for our SVI members! Health, confidence and wellbeing sessions are starting at the end of June and beginning of July. They are part of our new ‘Mind Body Moving Forward’ programme. Contact the office to book your place!
‘Mind Body Moving Forward’ is all about supporting you to regain confidence to get back out in the community as Covid restrictions come to an end. We are offering different types of sessions (or modules), so you can join the ones you are interested in.
During our telephone chats and virtual meetings, many people have said that they have lost the confidence to go out and start doing the things they used to enjoy. We have designed this programme to help overcome fears and concerns about going back out into the world.
The first sessions are all virtual. They will take place every week on the Zoom platform. You can join them all or pick and mix the sessions that you feel would help you most.
What’s on offer?
Mindfulness, starting Tuesday 29 June from 6pm to 7pm. For four weeks, qualified mindfulness practitioner Cassie will take you through the art of relaxation and stress management to restore a sense of calm, clarity and relaxation in readiness for the great big world out there.
‘Being Fearless’ starts Wednesday 30 June from 2pm to 3.30pm. For six sessions operatic comedian Sarah-Ann will demonstrate some fun, proven techniques for ‘Getting into the Zone’, preparing you and your Alter-Ego to face the world fearlessly.
Function Fitness begins Friday 2 July from 11am to 12noon. For six weeks, Wendy, an award-winning, specialised instructor will talk us through seated or standing workouts, some light exercise to help us restore core strength and stamina.
We will also be holding Talk and Support groups about things important to blind and visually impaired people. Such as sleep deprivation, coping alone, asking for help and other topics that matter to you.
We will support you to draw up your own personal goal sheet and link you in to other help such as listening or counselling support if you feel you need that extra helping hand to get started again. A new tomorrow starts today!
Sandwell Community Partnership Innovation Fund have very kindly given SVI a grant to cover the costs of running this programme.
