Tell HealthWatch Sandwell your views and how services can be improved

We have been asked by HealthWatch Sandwell to tell you about the below two new projects they are working on, they invite your views.  If you are accessing the Word document and you find your screen reader will not read the document initially when you open it try hitting the ‘Escape’ button which brings Word into document view and it should then continue to read the documents on a Windows computer.  We are unable to comment on how a Mac Computer will deal with this at the present time but hope to advise in the future.

Message begins:

First Project ‑ Are you a “patient in waiting” for hospital treatment?

Have you been referred by your GP to hospital for an appointment, treatment, or operation? Are you still waiting? If so Healthwatch Sandwell would like to hear from you.

Healthwatch Sandwell are the independent voice of the public in health and social care. We collect feedback from members of the public using health and social care services about their experiences and use that feedback to work with service providers and commissioners to improve services.

The Covid-19 Pandemic has contributed to delays and backlogs in hospital treatment which will take extra time to address. HWS is seeking to understand the impact of the longer delays on patients’ health and well-being, and the experience of services while waiting for treatment.

We would like to hear what is good, what is poor and what is needed to improve the experience of being a “patient in waiting”. We would like to identify what adjustments to services would help make the patient in waiting experience more positive and enable patients to be fully informed and prepared for their treatment journey.

HWS will hold conversations with individuals and groups by phone, email, face-to-face or virtually to suit participants. Please contact us to share your experiences:

We also have some virtual conversation events coming up. Please see attachment for more details. You can also contact SVI to show interest.

Second Project

Healthwatch Sandwell are your local voice for the public in the delivery of health and social care services. We champion the views of service users using health and social care services in Sandwell with the goal of making services better and improving health and wellbeing. As such, we are hoping to plan our work priorities for next year by asking local residents what matters most to them.

This survey will ask about the health and social care services in Sandwell to help us understand your concerns. The completed survey will be anonymised to remove any personally identifiable information. These anonymised findings will be published by Healthwatch Sandwell and shared with stakeholders.

Please complete the survey Link to Survey

Healthwatch Sandwell team are happy to help people to complete surveys over the phone.

Help us choose our work priorities for 2022/23 by telling us what topics are most important to you.

Kind regards

Melissa
