Highlights from Sandwell Talking News AGM on 29 March 2021

The recent Virtual Sandwell Talking News AGM ran fairly smoothly after a slight problem with muting audio and after the formalities of the meeting everyone who attended was treated to ‘As gentlemanly a little fellow as ever stepped’ – the life and times of a Victorian convict prison governor’ which was a tale of the life and times of Major Robert Hickey by Dr David Cox, who had entertained us so well at our previous year’s AGM that we just had to invite him back again for more of his riveting historical knowledge.  He told the tale of a prison governor of Dartmoor Jail, who had a very interesting life, with some rather unexpected twists.  Please find a link to YouTube below to witness his talk:

The Virtual AGM also gave us the opportunity to show a video which had been compiled introducing the volunteer readers old and new to our STN listeners and gives an insight into who they are and why they find volunteering for the STN so rewarding.  Please find the video below:

All in all a good time was had by all and we look forward to a face to face meeting next year, although the virtual meeting was a great success.
