SVI Open Meeting Monday 25 March, 1.30pm to 4pm

Mendi Singh teaches SVI members drumming techniques

We warmly invite you to join us for our March open members meeting from 1.30pm to 4pm at Portway Lifestyle Centre.  The afternoon will include a mix of entertainment and useful information from our invited guests and the SVI team. There will be refreshments and a raffle.

We welcome Creative Change programme lead and Tabla drummer, Mendi Singh, who will tell you all about our drumming sessions. Followed by a performance from our members who have learned to beat to the rhythm of the drum and now will entertain you with their new skills!

Our guest speaker, Hardev Sandhu, Sandwell Welfare Rights Officer will tell you about the migration to Universal Credits for those of us receiving some benefits. He will answer your general questions about benefit entitlements.

Programme

1.30pm: Welcome – tea/coffee and expenses. Please remember to obtain a receipt for your journey

1.50pm: Opening address by Richard Flatley, SVI Vice Chair

2pm: Mendi Singh, to talk about the Creative Change drumming programme, including a performance from our very own SVI drummers

2.20pm: Sue Bloomer, our new Advocacy and Information Coordinator will tell you about the new SEE (Support, Empowerment and Experience) programme

2.30pm: Dan Letchford, to wish you all a fond farewell as he moves to pastures new

2.40pm: Refreshment break and raffle ticket sales

3pm: Guest speaker Hardev Sandhu from Sandwell Welfare Rights to explain how changes to Benefits might affect people and tell us what we might need to do.

3.45pm:Thank you and raffle draw

4pm: Meeting close

Refreshments and raffle.

Transport, Booking and Venue

Please book your own transport, your travel costs will be met if you live in Sandwell and have a receipt for your journey.

Venue: Portway Lifestyle Centre. Newbury Lane, Oldbury, B69 1HE.

If you are travelling by taxi, please book your own taxi and obtain a receipt. Ask the taxi driver to drop you on the carpark by the entrance, where help will be waiting.
