It features great activities such as awesome drop and wavy slides\, climbing walls\, huge ball pools to dive into and lots of other inflatable games to get you bouncing around the arena and challenging your nerve\, stamina and balance. Although the most important thing is that you’ll have an exhilaratingly thrilling and awesome amount of FUN! \nWe will meet outside the Pure Gym at Astle Retail Park\, West Bromwich at 11am. We will register at the arena for our 12pm to 1pm bounce\, entrance costs £9.99. \nBe the first to bounce and book your visit by contacting the SVI office to register and make payment by Monday 16th March. DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE \nSVI Men’s Group meet at Portway Lifestyle Centre on the fourth Monday of every month where they take part in VI walking football. \nIn walking football everyone is blindfolded\, including those with sight loss. We play the game at a slower pace! Instead of running you just walk. We have a sighted person there and play with a ball which makes a noise when it is in motion. The sighted person claps to indicate where the ball is when it stops. If you need to know where you are on the pitch\, the sighted person will tell you. They tap both sides of the goal post to indicate where the goals are. \nIt’s a gentle form of exercise where you are guaranteed to have a laugh! \nThere is £1 charge per session to cover refreshments.

DESCRIPTION:After the success of our day out at Haden Hill House\, we have organised a guided tour of the Oak House Museum in West Bromwich on Thursday 27 February. \nThe cost is £5 per person\, payable on the day\, to include the tour\, tea or coffee and biscuits. You can either meet us at the SVI office at 10am where we will walk together to the Oak House\, or meet us outside the house on Oak Road\, B70 8HJ at 10.20am. \nIf you are still feeling peckish after our morning tour of the house\, then join us at the Dovecote\, Hill Top at 1pm for a carvery lunch from £4.69. \nYou might choose to travel with us at a shared cost from the Oak House to the pub. SUMMARY:Walking Football
DESCRIPTION:SVI Men’s Group meet at Portway Lifestyle Centre on the fourth Monday of every month where they take part in VI walking football. \nIn walking football everyone is blindfolded\, including those with sight loss. We play the game at a slower pace! Instead of running you just walk. We have a sighted person there and play with a ball which makes a noise when it is in motion. The sighted person claps to indicate where the ball is when it stops. If you need to know where you are on the pitch\, the sighted person will tell you. They tap both sides of the goal post to indicate where the goals are. \nIt’s a gentle form of exercise where you are guaranteed to have a laugh! \nThere is £1 charge per session to cover refreshments.

We also hope to welcome Councillors\, organisational representatives and colleagues who have supported the Sandwell Talking News by raising awareness of our service across Sandwell. \nThis year\, our guest speaker is Dr David Cox\, a Reader in Criminal Justice History at the University of Wolverhampton\, who will give us a talk entitled ‘Bow Street in The Black Country’. The talk centres on the brutal murder of a gentleman farmer and its investigation by the Bow Street Runners\, the world’s first professional detective force. The talk will be interactive with audience participation encouraged! SUMMARY:Oldbury Sight Loss Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Members have told us that they would like local support groups to be set up. Thanks to a grant from the Esmee Fairbairn EPIC programme\, over the next three months we will be launching town based groups.  Local support groups will take place once every six weeks in your town. We are looking for members who would like to volunteer to work with our staff and sighted volunteers to take the lead on these groups. \nOur first group in Oldbury will be launched on Thursday 6 February from 10.30am to 12noon at Oldbury Library\, Jack Judge House\, Halesowen Street\, Oldbury  B69 2AJ. \nCome and join our friendly team to find out about help available\, local services and more.

SUMMARY:Tea and Toast
DESCRIPTION:Pop in to our base at West Bromwich Town Hall on the first Wednesday morning of each month from 10:30am to 12 noon to enjoy a slice of toast\, other tasties and a cuppa over a chat with your SVI friends. Help is on hand from our staff who can offer support with anything you need to get sorted. We have guests from other organisations who will tell you about their services and how they can help you. \nPhotographer and SVI member Karren Visser will share her new arts project in collaboration with Multistory. This will explore sensory photography and challenge traditional ways of seeing. Throughout 2020 Karren will be running workshops with people and communities in Sandwell and the project will result in a multi-sensory exhibition and launch event in Summer 2020. \nThere will be lots of ways to be involved in this project\, including photographing\, being photographed\, sharing your experiences of living in Sandwell with sight impairment and taking part in creative workshops led by Karren. \nIf you are interested in getting involved with the photography project\, you can come along to a meeting directly after the tea and toast session. This will be in Committee Room C at the Town Hall.
