This Masala Dosa helping of our informative Indian cookery class, specially designed to cater for people with varying degrees of sight loss, had been requested by one of our participants. The sessions will commence again in the New Year and if there is a dish that you love and have a burning desire to create yourself please join Krupa and Kiran and they will try their best to accommodate. Krupa and Kiran supplied their usual informative instructions during this session as well as some of our participants asking the usual pertinent questions to clarify some of the instructions. potatoes and onion masala
• 2 Medium Boiled potatoes
• 2 medium onions chopped or sliced m
• 1 teaspoon ginger chopped or grated
• 1 teaspoon Salt (adjust to taste)
• 2 tablespoon oil
• ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
• ½ teaspoon cumin Seeds
• 1 sprig curry leaves
• 1 to 2 green chillies chopped or sliced
• 1 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
• ¼ teaspoon turmeric (use more if needed)
For garnish
• 2 tablespoons coriander leaves chopped finely
To Pressure Cook the Dal
• 1 cup Tuvar dal/pigeon peas lentil
• 1 small bowl tomatoes
• ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
• ½ teaspoon ginger paste
• Red chilli powder
• Coriander powder
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 3 cups water
• 3 teaspoons of sugar or Jaggery
• Half lemon
Tadka/Tempering
• 2 tablespoon oil
• ½ teaspoon mustard seeds black
• ¼ teaspoon hing
• Chopped corn for garnish
