Jingle all the way

Santa flies across a snowy landscape with his sleigh and reindeer. Text says Merry Christmas.

Do you enjoy a festive sing-along to chase those blues away? SVI members and volunteers, along with volunteer Sandwell Talking News readers, have produced a ‘single’ which you can listen to or download from our website. It’s Jingle Bells all the way for our little singing community.

This project was the brainchild of Sandwell Talking News volunteers Sarah-Ann and Tim. Together they have extensive professional experience in the music industry. Sarah-Ann split the song into four parts and sang along so we could learn the tune and lyrics.

Everything was recorded remotely. Individual singers recorded themselves on their own phone or other device and sent their recordings to the SVI office. SVI also ran some Zoom sessions where Sarah-Ann was able to give individual encouragement to our singers. After this, Tim took the raw tracks and mixed them together. And lo, a ‘single’ was born.

Not everyone was confident that they could hold a tune. However we were given guarantees that no-one would be able to tell after Tim had worked his producer’s magic on the piece! We hope that you agree.

Huge thanks to all our intrepid singers, to Sarah-Ann and to Tim. Merry Christmas everyone.

Now sit back and enjoy!

And while you’re in the festive mood, why not have a listen to the Sandwell Talking News Christmas Special edition. There’s something in it for everyone!
