News from the SVI office, 14 December 2015

By SVI Development Worker, Sandra Troth

Hello Sandwell Talking News listeners and SVI members. Well the big day is almost here now and it's our last Talking News before the Christmas break.

I hope you are all ready with your cards, tree and decorations up, presents wrapped and ready to settle down to festive TV, radio or a good talking book – not forgetting a mince pie or two and a glass of Baileys!

By the time you read this, the Active at 60 Festive Cheer afternoons will have come and gone, but right now we are busy putting the finishing touches to an afternoon that, if as good as last year will be great fun.

The Council will close for non-urgent work on Tuesday 22 December and the SVI office and the Deaf Centre will not be opening until Monday 4 January, so we are all looking forward to a nice long break this year.  If you do need to contact the council urgently during the Christmas closure visit the council website to get the list of emergency numbers.

SVI has two new activities coming up in January – the first, is a series of art workshop sessions on a Tuesday morning, starting on 12 January.  The second is another chance to take part in an Online Today workshop – to learn about IT, Smart phones, mobile devices and tablets.

Why not start 2016 off with trying something new and coming along to one of the sessions.

Well that’s all for now from the SVI team, so on behalf of the Management Committee, volunteers and Scott and myself at the office, may we wish you a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful, happy and healthy 2016.

 Best wishes,
