Sam's marathon achievement for SVI

Our wonderful gym buddy Sam has done something truly amazing to raise money for SVI, the Birmingham International Marathon. It was on Sunday 15 October 2017.

Sam said: "My fundraising for SVI has now been completed and final fundraising amount is £510 which will be matched pound for pound by my employer Barclays Bank. Included in the funds raised, the raffle raised £200 with winners from SVI including Bill, Faye and Gina, well done all.

" Thanks to everyone who either purchased a raffle ticket, donated a prize or sponsored me - your generosity and kind wishes really got me round the 26 miles. Hope to see you all at the SVI Annual Forum or SVI curry night on 14 November.

" I believe SVI really make an impact to local people and am proud to be both a supporter of the charity and friend to members. Thank you again."

SVI Chair, Tony Averis said: "SVI would like to thank you all for supporting Sam in the Samathon Challenge - the funds raised will make a massive difference to our members. A big thank you too to Barclays Bank for matching the amount raised."

SVI Enablement Worker, Kelly said: "Sam does so much for us in her little spare time. As well as helping out at many events she helps as a gym buddy at Portway Lifestyle Centre. She is known to many as 'sergeant major' as she gives such good workouts and creates great incentives for all the VI gym goers to achieve their goals, including giving winners gifts out of her own pocket.

"Well done Sam and thank you on behalf of all Sandwell Visually Impaired."

Sam completed the marathon in a fantastic four hours and five minutes. Here she is after her magnificent effort.
