Successful fundraising and awareness day

Customers at Asda, Oldbury generously donated a total of £144.05 to SVI during our Eye Health Awareness event on Monday 15 May. Our sincere thanks to customers and staff for their generosity. We were at the store to raise awareness of the importance of having an eye test and to give people information about eye health and support services.

The very important funds raised will help SVI to continue to provide support services to blind and partially sighted people living in Sandwell.

The services we offer include:

  • Health and fitness sessions such as archery, gym, water confidence and learn to swim programmes.
  • Active at 60 Group for older people.
  • Arts and creativity workshops.
  • Members’ support meetings, newsletters in a range of formats
  • An annual sight loss and eye health information day.

It’s not all about supporting people who have already lost their sight – an important part of our campaign is to encourage people to have a regular sight test. We gave out eye health information and offered guidance to people about how best to take care of their eyesight.
