Our achievements

We hold monthly management meetings, and achievements include:

  • A  constitution and defined objectives
  • A good relationship with the Council’s Adult and Community Services
  • A quarterly newsletter that we send to all members
  • Quarterly general and social meetings of all members with transport costs met
  • A multi-page website offering a range of services and opportunities to get involved.

We have representatives at:

  • The Low Vision Services group
  • The Physical Disabilities and Sensory Impairment staff meetings (of Sandwell Council)
  • The Community Equipment Service (Sandwell Council)
  • The information group responsible for developing and producing information distributed to all new referrals to Vision Services (Sandwell Council)
  • The Sandwell Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), Borough wide forum.

We also meet with the Sandwell Council Access Officer, who advises on access issues including signage.

We are involved in the selection and interviewing of all new recruits to Vision Services.

In October 2006 we received a £5,000 award from the Sandwell Partnership to produce four issues of our quarterly newsletter and to pay for this website.
